Michael Downes

Michael is responsible for the analyses involved in the asset management of existing properties in the Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds' portfolio and Canyon's senior loans and mezzanine investments. Prior to joining Canyon, Michael was a Director of Real Estate Services for United Systems Integrators and an Associate in Deutsche Bank Securities' Real Estate Investment Banking Group. While at Deutsche Bank, Michael was responsible for providing financial advisory services to Real Estate Investment Trusts, real estate developers, and home builders. Michael also worked as an environmental consultant for Harding Lawson Associates and Environmental Partners specializing in environmental due diligence for real estate transactions. Prior to Harding Lawson, Michael was an elementary school teacher in Los Angeles and Compton, California. Michael holds a bachelor's degree in Accounting from Boston College and an MBA from the Harvard Business School.
