André Johnson
André Johnson is Manager of Business Development for Magic Johnson Enterprises, which was formed in 1987 to provide products and services that particularly focus on ethnically diverse urban communities. As such, he is responsible for identifying new partnerships, business ventures and facilitating growth of the company.
Among his many responsibilities at the company, Mr. Johnson manages the prestigious Canyon-Johnson Urban Fund, LLP, a partnership between Canyon-Capital Realty Advisors, LLC and Magic Johnson Enterprise’s Johnson Capital Advisors. Along with partners at Canyon-Johnson, Mr. Johnson selects and implements new real estate projects and helps grow the existing portfolio of investments across the nation.
Mr. Johnson is the Vice Chair of the honorary committee for the Los Angeles Minority Business Opportunity Center under the direction of Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa. The committee empowers small minority-owned businesses to earn contracts on public and private sector projects. In recognition of his commitment to minority business development and opportunities for youth, Mr. Johnson was awarded the Penny Lane Blue Skies Award for Minority Community Development Advocacy and The City of Refuge Youth Empowerment Award. He has been featured in over 30 magazines and television programs including Black Enterprise, Azteca America and ESPN2, and appeared on the cover of LA Focus as one of the young, rising African American businessmen in Los Angeles.
