CANYON-JOHNSON URBAN FUNDS HIRES NEVILLE RHONE AS VICE PRESIDENT


Executive will focus on acquisitions and existing investments


LOS ANGELES (February 23, 2005)- The Canyon-Johnson Urban Funds (CJUF) announced today that real estate executive Neville Rhone has joined the company as Vice President. Mr. Rhone, who brings more than a decade of experience in finance and real estate investing, will be primarily responsible for identifying and overseeing new acquisition opportunities as well as providing oversight of existing investments.

"Neville brings an extensive background in acquisitions, finance and investment banking to Canyon-Johnson," said Bobby Turner, CJUF's managing partner. Added Earvin "Magic" Johnson, "Neville joins an already great team that is actively seeking strategic acquisitions and developments in urban markets throughout the country."

Prior to joining Canyon, Mr. Rhone was a Vice President with Morgan Stanley Real Estate. In this position, he executed transactions for Morgan Stanley Real Estate Funds (MSREF) and the Investment Banking Division. Prior to Morgan Stanley, Mr. Rhone was an Associate with Tishman Realty Corporation, an international real estate developer and investor. At Tishman, he was responsible for overseeing developments and underwriting investment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

Mr. Rhone is a graduate of Cornell University (B.S. and Masters of Engineering in Civil Engineering) and Columbia Business School (M.B.A. - finance concentration).
